One Home Journey Begins
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The “One Home Journey 2024-2030 – 7 Years for 7 Generations”
takes off on International Peace Day, the 21st of September 2024
The One Home Journey starts its epic quest to every country in the world for an inclusive and regenerative future on Earth for all life, International Peace Day (21 September) in Geneva, the international city of peace. It is the 40th International Peace Day celebration, and the eve of the UN Summit of the Future in New York. On that day, the co-founders of the Home for Humanity movement, Prof. Alexander Schieffer and Dr. Rama Mani, embark on their 7 years journey for 7 generations, commencing in Southern Africa.
The One Home Journey is stewarded by the Homes for Humanity movement in partnership with over 15 renowned civic organizations. It is a collective human quest of 7 years, exploring, in every country on Earth: How do we transform our divided world and endangered planet into an inclusive and regenerative HOME for the diverse family of life on Earth for present and future generations? The journey is hosted and guided in every country by local changemakers and their organizations that are recognised as a ‘Home for Humanity’ for their transformative impact. All along the journey, the One Home UnivEARTHsity offers a unique vessel for co-learning and co-creation of a collective answer to the quest. As a non-academic university, built on the go, it is open freely for all Earth Citizens regardless of qualification, age and background. As a university of life, it creates a living wisdom base for future generations, and enables people across all cultures to become co-creators of our shared future. The journey is free, based on a gifting culture of voluntary co-gifting.
On September 21, the eve of the UN Summit of the Future, this collective Earth Citizens’ journey of transformation begins at the Place des Nations, United Nations in Geneva. At 11.11 am CET initiators and supporters of the One Home Journey will be featured in the 24 Hour Live global broadcast of Unite4Peace, as they start their “Unity and Peace Walk of 7 kilometers for 7 Generations” from the Palais des Nations to Geneva Airport. At 1.11pm CET, from Geneva airport, they will be joined online from the United Nations in New York by their co-chair and former UN Under Secretary General Dr. Youssef Mahmoud, and Home for Humanity’ Earth Ambassadors attending the UN Summit of the Future. (Join them live at: Unite4Peace.live or www.unite4peace.org)
On 22nd September, as the UN Summit of the Future begins, the One Home Journey will be welcomed in Soweto, South Africa, by Indigenous Leaders, Earth artists and peacemakers at the Credo Mutwa Cultural Village, before proceeding to Zimbabwe that evening. (Join them live at 1:11 pm (CET) via Unite4Peace.live)
The One Home Journey stays about one week in each country, championing wisdom keepers and catalyzing future builders. Each week follows a similar structure, which connects the ‘inner home’ (of shared humanity), to the local homes (local home-grown transformative initiatives), to the planetary community across our one home, Earth. At the end of each week, people worldwide connect in an online Earth Family Call, hosted within a local Earth Agora. This structure was already followed at the inauguration week (April 2024), hosted by Sekem in Egypt and the special week in June 2024 in Bhutan, including the ELC High School that educates for lifelong citizenship in Bhutan.
The first 12 week season in Africa starts with an Earth Week in Zimbabwe from 23 – 29 September. The Earth Weeks at the beginning of each season are an opportunity for citizens from all around the globe to participate on site, in every world region. After Zimbabwe, the journey continues to Lesotho, South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and concludes with the first online Regional Seasonal Summit on 1 December 2024. The next season starts in Asia, with an Earth Week from 16-22 December 2024, at the world renowned development Initiative Sarvodaya, a Home for Humanity in Sri Lanka. It then continues to the Americas, the Mediterranean region of the Arab world, North Africa and Europe, returning to Geneva in August 2025, before starting Year 2 on 21 September 2025.
