Subhankar Banerjee

Kosmos is proud to present photographs by Subhankar Banerjee. His two
year photographic journey in raging blizzards with a wind-chill factor
of minus 100 degrees F encompassed 4,000 miles undertaken by foot, raft,
kayak, and snowmobile in all four seasons. His goal: “to see official,
permanent wilderness designation for the coastal plain of the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge.”

He is the recipient of the Lannan Cultural Freedom Fellowship for
leadership on behalf of world cultural freedom, by promoting cultural
diversity and strengthening cultural traditions and ties; the National
Conservation Achievement Award from the National Wildlife Federation and
a special Achievement Award from the Sierra Club.
