Eric Garza

Eric Garza is the founder of Quillwood Academy. In addition to teaching through Quillwood Academy, he also teaches part-time at the University of Vermont, and occasionally elsewhere. Eric’s academic training spans both natural and social sciences, with systems theory mixed in for good measure.

Outside academia Eric has trained in various martial arts, and finds great value in the body awareness, movement practice, and conditioning they offer. He has also invested thousands of hours practicing place-based skills, including foraging, fishing, hunting, tracking, and crafting useful tools from gathered materials. He mentors individuals and small groups in these skills, and sometimes in martial arts and movement practices as well.
